DHOW SAFARI

Take a trip of a lifetime on a traditional dhow boat

Take a trip of a lifetime on a traditional dhow boat, visit an uninhabited sandbank, snorkel at a shipwreck and see the local population of dolphins.

A Dhow Safari is a very special way to experience the Quirimbas islands.

Starting from Ibo, you can sail out to a sandbank and maybe be lucky enough to swim with our local pod of dolphins, snorkel at an amazing shipwreck, and relax in the sunshine on a island of your own. From here you can return by boat to Ibo, or continue to the large island of Matemo, where you can spend the night or simply stop by for lunch.

If you stay on Matemo, you can go on to visit the island of Rolas the following day.

The water is shallow so on clear days you can see dolphins swimming along the seabed and sometimes they’ll come and say hello.

Please note: it is possible to combine the Dhow Safari with one or 2 nights on Matemo island, staying in a tented camp on your own isolated beach. Contact details can be found on the accommodation page.
