Dade offers camping and bungalow accommodation on Matemo island, in the neighbourhood of Palussança (north-east of Matemo).. Before setting up his business, Dade was an employee of the Quirimbas National Park for several years, and knows the islands well.
The 4 bungalows that now make up the seafront site were constructed with the local materials, and for those who prefer to be even closer to nature, camping is also possible. The whole site can accommodate up to 18 guests.
If you let Dade know in advance, he can arrange delicious food for you too. Packed lunch also available.

Kissongossawi is a community-run campsite in the natural setting of Muanacombo beach on the south part of Matemo island. It was built in 2010 in collaboration with the Quirimbas National Park and the Community Lodge Association of Muanacombo, and improved with help from the Italian NGO Istituto Oikos. It is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to experience tranquillity and the beauty of nature.

The camp consists of 4 large safari tents, each sleeping 2 people, accommodating a total of 8 guests. The tents are tucked away in the shade of the trees surrounding the beach. The manager Alide and his staff are attentive to the well-being of the guests and can provide food in addition to accommodation. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all year round. Booking is required.

Alide can also provide contacts for excursions around the island by van or motorbike and organise trips to adjacent islands by sailboat.

Riwe da Sumburero is on the airport road in the Rituto neighbourhood of Ibo Town. It has 5 en-suite rooms and can accommodate up to 10 guests. It is also possible to eat at Riwe da Sumburero with a reservation. A home delivery service is available and the restaurant and accommodation are open all year round. The manager Zuba can also help you to plan other elements of your trip.

Kissirwa tcha Wibu restaurant and accommodation is located in the Cumuamba neighbourhood and is run by Saide family. The owners Saide and Maria cook typical cuisine from the region, and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner all year round.

Arquipélago Residencial das Quirimbas is in Cemento neighbourhood in the old part of Ibo town, near the Fortim Sao Jose Antonio. It has 9 en-suite rooms and can accommodate up to 20 guests. Arquipelago also serves food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a home delivery service.

Karibune is in bairro Cimento, in the historical part of Ibo near Ponte Cais. Owner Awale Tabete built Karibuni after selling his house to the Ibo Foundation. It is open all year round, it has a nice restaurant, and Awale can help arrange excursions and accommodation on other islands.

When Mussa brought his family back to Quirimba after several years spent in Maputo, he and his wife Lila decided to open their home to guests. Their authentic home cooking is served with a smile, and a beautiful view of the ocean. You can camp, or stay in one of their spotless bungalows. Typical dishes include grilled fish with coconut rice, seafood curry with rice, cassava fries, and Mussa’s ‘special sauce’ – perfect for dipping! Esplanada Chiva is a family run restaurant located in bairro Cemento. It offers a variety of local dishes such as coconut rice, coconut curry, manioc matapa, moringa matapa, shrimp, macasa and squid. It is open all year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Dona Ana’s restaurant, near Ibo Town’s mosque, was established in 2010 by Ana Mandala, to help alleviate poverty through the creation of job opportunities on the island. Dishes include ingredients associated with the traditional livelihood of the islands – fresh fish, seafood and local vegetables from the island.

Typical dishes are Ana’s famous fish stew served with coconut rice, mixed rice with bean stew or moist oyster (kitore) accompanied with fried fish (safe medio) and not forgetting rice cakes (Vitumbila and Ribas) that go perfectly with fried fish. Dona Ana’s has wifi.

bairroCemento in old town, and is named after their father/, Chico. The most famous dish at Chico’s is fried squid which is available at any time of day, alongside Ibo’s other typical dishes. The restaurant can sit up to 25 people. Food must be ordered early as all ingredients are fresh and caught from the sea on the same day.

Kumawe restaurant is in Parakatchi, in Ibo town. Nacir started this restaurant using funds raised from the  cultivation and sale of Ibo Coffee. This is served at his restaurant along with typical local dishes, such as  lobster curry, grilled peri peri chicken and coconut rice.

Mr Nacir can also help you make arrangements for excursions around the islands. Traditional  mussiro mask is available at Nacir’s place.

Benjamin and his wife Fatima run their restaurant in the Rituto district of Ibo Town. Their friendly service and tasty food is served all day. Typical dishes include delicious cassava fries, crab curry and coconut rice. They also serve Ibo Coffee.
